Welcome to the PDX Dinorama

and the Worldwide Sidewalk Joy Map!

Hi, I’m Rachael!

I’m an artist living in Portland, Oregon and I’ve turned many parts of my yard and fence into an interactive community display.

Starting with a dinosaur-themed diorama (a ‘Dinorama’), I later added the Dino Exchange, Small Scenes, the Bee Stop, and more.

My passion is adding bright spots of whimsy to my city spreading the word about other places like this in Portland and beyond!

My Installations

In addition to the Dinorama, you’ll also find the Dino Exchange, Small Scenes, The Bee Stop, the Teeny Tiny Library for Teeny Tiny Books, The Ultra Tiny Little Free Library and more!

My displays are a part of a movement called Sidewalk Joy!

What is Sidewalk Joy?

Sidewalk Joy spots are free, curated public galleries, exchanges and displays. Installed in curb gardens, front yards or sides of buildings these projects were created to bring a bit of whimsy and inspiration to the community.

My friend Grant (of PDX FLAG) and I put together a map of all the Sidewalk Joy spots in Portland, Oregon. The first iteration in 2022 had 26 spots and now our community has grown to 89!

Worldwide Sidewalk Joy

Now I’ve created a Worldwide Sidewalk Joy Map! We have installations all over the United States as well as New Zealand, the UK, Canada and more!

If you know of a spot that should be on our map, click here (link coming soon). If you have an installation you’d like included, please join our community!

My art

In addition to the Dinorama and Sidewalk Joy, I also do tiny pottery, photography, and am currently writing three books! Oh and if you’d like to make tiny books yourself, here’s the tutorial and here’s the printout!
